Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Program Coordinator is a key member of the UofL Health team, responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and implementing structured therapeutic program activities for individuals and groups of patients on an assigned patient care unit. This role requires a high level of expertise in therapeutic programming and the ability to provide leadership and guidance to unit staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the therapeutic milieu to identify areas for improvement and implement structured interventions to ensure patients are engaged and their needs are met.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to unit staff on programming and interventions to achieve and maintain a therapeutic milieu.
  • Stay informed about the changing status of all patients on the unit and collaborate with nursing leadership to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and utilization of therapeutic milieu activities and interventions.
  • Intervene to facilitate crisis intervention or conflict resolution for patients within the unit milieu during assigned shifts.
  • Perform specific functions and skills to assist nursing staff in providing patient care as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling psychology, psychology, or a closely related health degree (required). In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience specific to the unit, program, and field.
  • Master's degree in counseling psychology, psychology, or a closely related behavioral health degree (preferred).
  • Active driver's license authorization (if required by position/department operations).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required).
  • Facility-determined crisis intervention training program (required).
