Position Overview

Marty's Orchid House is a recognized non-profit therapeutic and medical day center dedicated to providing support for preschoolers facing sensory processing disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and related health challenges. We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Child Behavioral Support Specialist to engage directly with children in our classrooms.

Our organizational culture emphasizes positivity and respect for each employee's individuality. We strive to create an environment that fosters the highest quality of care for vulnerable populations.

This role is centered around a therapy-driven approach, maintaining a 3:1 child-to-staff ratio. The Child Behavioral Support Specialist will require immense patience and the ability to employ positive reinforcement strategies to encourage desired behaviors while effectively managing challenging behaviors in a consistent manner, under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Director of Nursing.
  • Provide essential hands-on care to children, including assistance with toileting, feeding, and daily living activities.
  • Implement therapeutic activities as directed, adhering to the scope of practice.
  • Facilitate engagement in classroom activities and support the Lead Teacher as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of care provided in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, therapists, the Lead Teacher, and the Director of Nursing regarding each child's care plan, progress, and any concerns.
  • Occasionally provide one-on-one care for children with specific sensory and behavioral needs after receiving appropriate training.
  • Assist with light cleaning duties following activities, meals, and at the end of the day.

Additional Information:

  • A resume is required for consideration.
  • Experience in child care, particularly with Autism or mental health, is highly recommended.
  • Reliable attendance is crucial; candidates must have dependable transportation and adhere strictly to the schedule.
  • This is a full-time position, with a standard schedule of Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, or an agreed-upon alternative.

  • Weekends and holidays are designated as time off.
