Louisville, Kentucky, United States Maryhurst Full time

Maryhurst is dedicated to providing comprehensive care through our residential programs, community-based homes, and outpatient clinical services aimed at supporting children in need. Our residential initiatives focus on breaking the cycle of abuse, offering therapeutic treatments that foster hope and facilitate successful transitions for children into stable community or family environments. Additionally, our community and transitional living programs equip survivors of abuse and neglect with essential tools for a brighter future. The Maryhurst Renewal team collaborates with children, adults, and families facing challenges to identify the right support strategies, effectively removing barriers to success in home, school, and community settings. Renewal offers personalized counseling services, including one-on-one, group, and family sessions in various environments such as offices, homes, or schools.

The role of the Therapeutic Behavioral Support Specialist involves providing specialized, individualized assistance to clients, helping them maintain safe and constructive behaviors across residential, community, and educational settings. This position requires direct engagement with clients within the program and related environments (e.g., schools, community settings, residential facilities) to deliver clinical interventions that stabilize placements. The Specialist is responsible for fostering a therapeutic atmosphere within the milieu and executing crisis prevention strategies through additional supportive and therapeutic services tailored to individual client needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate the needs of individual clients and the therapeutic environment.
  • Developing and implementing behavior support plans and milieu support strategies in partnership with treatment teams and direct care staff.
  • Supervising activities for clients who have completed secondary education and providing specialized support for youth requiring additional assistance.
  • Creating and maintaining an Independent Living Skills (ILS) training plan based on assessment outcomes.
  • Ensuring familiarity with individualized treatment plans.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Substantial experience in child care or supervision of children and/or adolescents, or experience in delivering therapeutic interventions for clients with significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Willingness and ability to perform 'Safe Crisis Management' techniques for managing residents who may temporarily lose control of their behavior. Comprehensive training is provided for all employees with direct client interaction.
  • Compensation is based on experience and education, with starting rates ranging from $17.60 to $25.00 per hour.
