Position Overview

This is a full-time, 12-month role that is exempt from overtime compensation as per the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Key Responsibilities

Family Engagement and Communication

  • Address parent inquiries and concerns.
  • Communicate opportunities and challenges to families.
  • Act as a liaison for PSA leaders in coordinating events and identifying volunteer opportunities.
  • Promote school events in both English and Spanish.
  • Assist with the translation of documents for families.
  • Manage family communication lists and automated call systems; provide training to staff as necessary.
  • Support the planning and execution of school-wide and campus events.
  • Oversee Lower School Classroom newsletters.
  • Draft and manage the weekly family newsletter.
  • Organize the community closet for families in collaboration with the development team.

Re-Enrollment Support

  • Prepare re-enrollment materials for families and assist them through the process.
  • Coordinate enrollment events and extended hour sessions.

Admissions and Enrollment for New Families

  • Manage recruitment fairs and events.
  • Develop a recruitment strategy for transition grades.
  • Coordinate participation in community events with staff and parent volunteers.
  • Facilitate Open Houses for prospective families.
  • Provide information about the school to new families, including conducting tours.
  • Assist families with the MySchoolDC online application process.
  • Serve as the primary contact for MySchoolDC, ensuring compliance with submission deadlines.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Capital City and MSDC recruitment policies.
  • Oversee student shadow days and manage waitlists.
  • Collect necessary documentation from new families and follow up as needed.
  • Support the Compliance team during enrollment audits.
  • Inform families about orientation sessions.

Front Office Support and Additional Duties

  • Provide backup support to front desk staff as needed.
  • Assist with all-school mailings.
  • Verify family relationships in the student information system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Family Engagement and Admissions.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred; at least 60 credit hours towards a degree is desired.
  • Familiarity with resources and services available to families in Washington, DC.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with diverse families in urban environments.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends for family events.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Google Suite, and database management.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection and organization.

All staff members must meet the hiring requirements at Capital City, including passing a criminal background check.
