Currently, ManTech is in search of a dedicated and customer-focused Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to support various Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) initiatives.

This role may offer Remote work options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a broad range of design and analytical tasks associated with hovercraft, vessels, and other marine systems to support military and commercial clients.
  • Serve as the lead for design and analysis tasks related to centrifugal fans and ducted air propellers.
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams, including engineers, program managers, and CAD designers.
  • Oversee task requirements and timelines through the development of Plans of Actions with Milestones (POAMs) with minimal supervision.
  • Regularly assess technical data to identify and resolve issues such as system interface conflicts and hardware incompatibilities, offering solutions to the team.
  • Plan and execute research, development, or installation of products and systems in line with customer specifications, best practices, and regulatory standards.
  • Generate comprehensive reports documenting the procedures and outcomes of design and analysis tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, naval architecture, or structural design, accompanied by 4 or more years of relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
  • Willingness to travel for ship inspections and system prototype installations as required.
  • Capability to utilize spreadsheets for programming design equations based on first principles and empirical data.
  • Ability to produce high-quality design and analysis documentation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in fan design.
  • A minimum of 2 years in Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Familiarity with the US Navy through active duty, government civilian roles, or as a support contractor.
  • Experience with composite materials, including knowledge of fabrication processes and development of layup details.
  • Proficiency in creating complete and functional 3D model assemblies.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive, high-quality 2D drawing packages.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • The individual in this role must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally move within the office to access files, machinery, or communicate with colleagues and management.
