Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute field investigations and assess failures and incidents related to various electrical devices, products, and wiring systems.
  • Conduct electrical assessments of malfunctioning and damaged components to identify the root causes of failures, including lightning strikes, electrocutions, electrical fires, and consumer product malfunctions.
  • Utilize electrical engineering principles in line with industry standards during investigative analyses.
  • Perform impartial field and laboratory investigations for a diverse range of clients.
  • Deliver professional presentations, cultivate client relationships, and effectively promote oneself to client groups.
  • Articulate technical findings and conclusions in accessible language, both verbally and in written form.
  • Support findings with appropriate testimony in legal contexts.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Possession of P.E. registration through examination is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant electrical engineering experience is essential; additional experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge in power systems, controls, and NEC standards is beneficial.
  • A keen interest in fire-related investigations is desirable (training will be provided).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in public speaking is an asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities are required.


Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, primarily by vehicle.
  • Capability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to remove large or heavy items from fire scenes.
  • Capacity to carry equipment (such as shovels, cameras, evidence cases, etc.) up multiple flights of stairs.
  • Ability to engage in physically demanding tasks, such as shoveling debris and lifting fire remnants for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate within buildings and structures and climb ladders.
  • Flexibility to travel to various site locations at different hours and to fly as necessary.
