Position Title: Principal Admitting Worker - Financial Counselor Admissions and Registrations
Employment Type: Full Time
Job Overview: This role operates under the guidance of the Transfer Center and Patient Placement Supervisor, fulfilling responsibilities as both the Principal Admitting Worker for Transfer Center operations and as the Patient Placement Coordinator for patient admissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screen incoming patient transfers to ensure efficient processing.
  • Manage transfer requests and admissions while confirming insurance eligibility.
  • Provide follow-up on inpatient authorizations and offer financial counseling to patients and their families regarding their financial responsibilities.

As a Principal Admitting Worker, you will significantly impact the patient experience, acting as a representative of our services. Your role includes:

  • Meeting patient needs with a commitment to learning and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Encouraging effective communication and maintaining respect among colleagues, physicians, and the public.

Financial Counseling Duties:

  • Assess and assign patient liabilities for emergent, urgent, and self-pay cases.
  • Confirm insurance eligibility and benefits while securing necessary authorizations.
  • Guide patients and families through financial obligations and collect deposits for self-pay admissions.

Transfer Center Responsibilities:

  • Complete intake and registration processes, ensuring financial clearance for patient transfers.
  • Perform admission reconciliations and updates on patient classifications.

As the first point of contact for urgent patient flow issues, you will utilize your expertise in admission, transfer, and discharge systems to facilitate timely solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience as an Admitting Worker, including two years at a Senior level, or an Associate's degree with equivalent experience.
  • Proficient understanding of health insurance eligibility, authorization requirements, and reimbursement policies.
  • Experience in managing admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills for effective communication.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual capabilities.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and government program regulations.
