Minimum Educational Requirement:
  • High school diploma
Experience:
  • Preference for 12-24 months of experience in a legal support role, though no specific minimum is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Screening:
  • Conduct initial interviews to ascertain the basis for filing a complaint.
  • Complete screenings efficiently, providing suitable referrals when necessary.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions.
- Intake:
  • Address inquiries via walk-in, phone, or written communication.
  • Clarify definitions of discrimination and outline the complaint process.
  • Accurately fill out complaint intake forms while upholding a professional demeanor.
- Document Management:
  • Prepare and organize evidence for case files.
  • Receive and compile documentation sent by mail.
  • Ensure information is verified, organized, and entered into case files promptly.
  • Customize requests and log additional information from involved parties.
- General Office Duties:
  • Handle case-related correspondence and document collection.
  • Perform various office tasks including typing, scanning, photocopying, faxing, filing, and answering phones.
  • Assist in organizing documents and tracking case developments.
- Support for Human Rights Specialists:
  • Assist with investigations and prepare necessary forms, recommendations, and reports.
  • Review assigned complaints and accurately assess witness statements.
  • Schedule investigative activities and manage the calendar for Human Rights Specialists.
- Case Management System (CMS):
  • Utilize CMS for documenting and tracking responses.
  • Organize interviews and generate forms according to established formats and policies.
  • Conduct audits of caseloads to ensure accurate data entry in CMS.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Capacity to follow directions and work dependably.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Additional Information:
  • Standard work hours consist of an 8-hour day with a 0.5-hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday; 9 AM to 5 PM.
  • Parking options available, with recent rates around $60/month.
