As we strive for continuous improvement, the Senior Vice President of Access Services and Patient Engagement will provide strategic vision, leadership, and operational oversight for patient access functions within the HMH revenue cycle. This role encompasses the development and management of operational strategies, including financial planning, systems/processes, and internal controls for designated patient access functions. The position is pivotal in driving exceptional customer and patient experiences while collaborating with key operational leaders to meet defined business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

A typical day for the Senior Vice President of Access Services and Patient Engagement at Hackensack Meridian Health may involve:

  • Overseeing patient access and engagement services across the Hackensack Meridian Health Network.
  • Enhancing customer experience by adapting to evolving expectations and implementing innovative service solutions, with a focus on digital engagement and integrated workflows.
  • Directly managing regional patient access and centralized service leaders throughout the organization.
  • Providing strategic direction to the patient access department through innovative thinking, calculated risk-taking, and effective implementation strategies.
  • Staying informed about healthcare business dynamics, including federal/state regulations and industry trends, to incorporate relevant insights into operational functions.
  • Making informed decisions while proactively identifying challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Efficiently managing resources by leveraging innovation, participating in revenue operations budgeting, and establishing appropriate workloads.
  • Leading system-wide process improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities for workflow enhancements.
  • Collaborating with clinical departments to integrate patient financial engagement within the patient throughput cycle.
  • Evaluating and enhancing departmental performance in registration accuracy, denial management, estimate precision, pre-registration, and overall satisfaction.
  • Working with stakeholders to create and maintain user-friendly dashboards and scorecards, ensuring timely updates and utilizing data to drive positive outcomes.
  • Fostering a collaborative team environment by assisting colleagues and contributing to problem-solving efforts.
  • Engaging in performance improvement activities through participation in meetings, committees, and cross-functional projects.
  • Monitoring performance metrics against regional and national benchmarks, as well as key performance indicators.
  • Executing additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
  • Adhering to organizational competencies and standards of conduct.

Qualifications:

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in healthcare finance.
  • At least five (5) years of progressive management experience.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in developing standards, processes, policies, and procedures for diverse organizations.
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Epic's Hospital Billing, Professional Billing, ADT, and/or Estimator module.
  • Experience in a healthcare organization of similar size and complexity to Hackensack Meridian Health.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Healthcare Financial Professional.
