Job Title: Accountant - County Auditor's Office

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and monitor grants, residual accounts, law enforcement agreements, capital projects, and other agreements entered into by the County, ensuring compliance with agency requirements to maximize funding.
  • Set up agreements in the financial system, monitor revenue reimbursements, and close out agreements when completed.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies and departments on audits as needed.
  • Analyze financial documents, such as general ledgers, balance sheets, and budgets, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot accounting problems and make corrections in subsystems or create journal entries to resolve issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working with Internal Audit staff and fee officer departments to maintain transactional data in the financial system.
  • Prepare and assist with annual financial report audits, working with outside auditors.
  • Prepare and assist with monthly financial reports to be presented to the Commissioners Court.
  • Prepare files to upload information into the accounting system for generation of payments and proper recording in the general ledger.
  • Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by county managers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
  • Five years of job-related experience, with three years of accounting/finance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting and other finance-related areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills.
  • The ability to deal with people effectively and professionally.
  • Self-motivation to follow through independently on assigned projects.

Salary Range: $34.61 hourly based on qualifications
