Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Junior IT Security Auditor to join our team. As a key member of our Cybersecurity team, you will be responsible for conducting risk-based IT Security Audits for agencies electing to use our Centralized IT Security Audit Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough risk-based IT Security Audits to identify and assess potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement effective mitigation strategies to address identified security risks.
  • Collaborate with agency stakeholders to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to agencies on IT security best practices and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging security threats and technologies to ensure our audit services remain effective and relevant.
Requirements
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and/or the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing Standards (Red Book).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand, analyze, and draw appropriate conclusions from audit evidence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highest levels of integrity.
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and professionalism with a results-oriented work style.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior job experience as an Auditor, preferably an IT Auditor.
  • Information technology experience or education.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53 or COV Security Standard SEC530.
