Job Summary

Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation (THTBC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grounds Maintenance Laborer to join our team. As a Grounds Maintenance Laborer, you will be responsible for performing various labor tasks to maintain the grounds and facilities of Fort Carson.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cutting and Trimming: Cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.), and trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and wells.
  • Weed Control: Utilize weed eater to cut grass or weeds in ditches, ammunition mounds, and berms with high inclines.
  • Planting and Watering: Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, and water lawn and shrubs during dry periods.
  • Debris Removal: Rake, bag, and remove leaves and other natural debris.
  • Winter Maintenance: Remove snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots, using shovel and snow blower.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
  • Assisting with Repairs: Assist in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Tie down equipment and cargo loads on stake bed trucks and flatbed trailers.
  • Hand Weeding and Mulching: Hand weed-pulling, raking, shoveling, and mulching landscapes.
  • Operating Small Equipment: May drive ATV's, Kubota's and other small equipment or Tractors.
  • Directing Other Operators: Use hand and arm signals to direct other operators.
Requirements
  • Experience and Training: Experience and/or training providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the tasks of the position.
  • Operating Small Trucks and Equipment: Experience in operating small trucks and grounds equipment.
  • Background Check: Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Communication Skills: Must possess the ability to work in a high-volume office area and interface in a positive manner with co-workers and the customer.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Physical Demands: Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, bending, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to frequently bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Driver's License: Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Safe Driving Record: Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Background Check and Drug Test: Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
