Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Formulates 'shall' statements and ensures their implementation throughout the engineering lifecycle. Converts client requirements into testable and verifiable system specifications.
  • Collaborates with software and hardware teams to transform 'shall' statements into actionable requirements. Employs DOORS for managing requirements, ensuring verification traceability, and producing technical documentation.
  • Creates test plans and use cases, leveraging existing models or developing new modeling tools (C++, MATLAB). Designs test plans to support verification and validation for requirements fulfillment.
  • Develops analytical tools to evaluate system requirements and assess performance in alignment with design and development initiatives.
  • Clarifies, derives, and documents system requirements.
  • Generates and maintains technical documentation using DOORS.
  • Constructs system architecture and design documentation.
  • Innovates system architectures, algorithms, system requirements, and detailed design specifications.
  • Integrates new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations. Conducts trade studies using existing models or by creating new models with tools such as C++, MATLAB, Python, etc.
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, contributes to the technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems, including network analysis, functional allocation, systems requirements reviews, interface standards, and system architectures.
  • Creates and maintains models, applying MBSE best practices to capture system design and architecture, defining system functionalities using modeling tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo, etc.
  • Participates in the design and execution of unit, system, and operational testing and evaluation.
  • Analyzes system requirements and supports design and development activities.
  • Engages with stakeholders, including program personnel, government overseers, customers, and senior leadership.
  • Participates in a highly collaborative team environment, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle using Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline or industrial design.
  • Four to eight (4-8) years of experience in a systems engineering-related role.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Familiarity with requirements tools such as MySQL or DOORS.
  • Experience in system architecture and design documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and telephone etiquette.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective team player with strong customer service skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Adaptable and capable of working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline or industrial design.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in using analytical software tools to review and analyze software runtime data.
  • Experience in creating, peer reviewing, and presenting design review documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of MBSE best practices.
  • Familiarity with modeling languages such as SysML and UML.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable navigating software code for basic inspection and review.
  • Experience and interest in working with lab equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of Radar/Sensor/Systems operations and procedures.
  • Understanding of U.S. Navy Combat Systems.

  • Noise conditions may vary from very quiet to very noisy.
  • Prolonged use of computer (typing/keyboarding).
  • Frequent sitting for extended periods, standing, and walking.
