Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated VMware Systems Engineer to oversee and manage our VMware virtual environment along with associated guest systems, including Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a robust set of technical skills and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain both physical and virtual infrastructures.
  • Conduct regular maintenance of VMware virtual environments following established protocols and best practices.
  • Implement and uphold ESXi, VM, and vCenter DISA STIGs.
  • Install, configure, and integrate servers within the VMware ecosystem.
  • Perform backups, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for virtual servers.
  • Develop highly available server clusters in a vSphere setting.
  • Establish and configure virtual networks.
  • Document, test, and deploy virtual services and devices.
  • Evaluate current virtual computing infrastructures and propose enhancements.
  • Create and maintain VM templates for efficient virtual machine deployment.
  • Develop and uphold standard operating procedures.
  • Manage user requests for assistance, software installations, and upgrades.
  • Ensure the security of the infrastructure, including backups, antivirus software, and patch management.
  • Maintain the configuration and reliable operation of secure computer systems and network servers.
  • Document all work performed to maintain accurate configuration and installation records.
  • Support compliance and vulnerability audits, implementing necessary security measures.
  • Collaborate with users to identify necessary database design modifications.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of computer, network, and security systems.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ or CISSP preferred).
  • Typically requires a degree in STEM fields or equivalent experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI Security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory for security clearance eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, including Active Directory and DNS.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Understanding of network engineering fundamentals.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience in implementing computer security measures.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently.
