Position Overview
As a Youth Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing direct oversight to adolescents within a 24-hour residential setting. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of each youth while adhering to established departmental guidelines and standards.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Provide daily supervision to youths in a secure facility, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Engage in individual and group counseling sessions to enhance personal accountability and explore alternative choices.
  • Make informed decisions during emergencies or high-risk situations, documenting actions taken and reporting to supervisory staff.
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations, documenting incidents and forwarding information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in various operational duties, including administering medications, transporting youths, and conducting intake assessments.
  • Conduct regular inspections and drills, including room checks and physical searches.
  • Organize and facilitate educational and recreational activities for the youths.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience or 45 college credit hours in a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and the public.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a thorough background check and mandatory drug testing.

Work Environment
This position requires working with juveniles who may exhibit challenging behaviors, necessitating a high level of emotional resilience. Employees may be reassigned to different departments or shifts based on operational needs. The role may involve mandatory overtime and requires the ability to respond to emergencies at any time. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and meet all physical and written requirements of the training academy.
