Position Overview
The Portfolio Manager plays a crucial role in managing an assigned commercial loan portfolio, focusing on loan renewals, extensions, financial statement collection, credit evaluation, loan structuring, and monitoring exceptions. This position collaborates closely with the Special Assets Manager to oversee the Bank's high-risk loans, ensuring effective remediation, collection, or liquidation of non-performing assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and research to underwrite loan renewals, extensions, and modifications, ensuring timely completion of the underwriting process.
  • Collect and maintain all necessary documentation in accordance with established policies.
  • Perform thorough reviews of clients with maturing loans, including financial assessments, site visits, and evaluations of business conditions to identify potential risks.
  • Collaborate with the Relationship Manager Team to build and sustain relationships with both current and prospective clients.
  • Utilize customer insights to proactively identify and suggest opportunities for cross-selling additional loan and non-credit products.
  • Ensure compliance with established credit policies and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to senior management regarding portfolio performance.
  • Engage with external vendors and professionals as necessary to address portfolio challenges.
  • Create corporate financial spreads using specialized software tools.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of business relationships, striving to meet annual performance metrics.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial lending environment, with demonstrated expertise in credit evaluation and portfolio risk management.
  • Experience in a Relationship Manager role is advantageous.
Technical Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the commercial lending process, including credit evaluation and underwriting.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a proven track record of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, capable of analyzing moderate to complex loan requests.
  • Thorough understanding of credit and financial analysis methodologies.
  • Ability to identify and assess business risks and their key drivers, making informed decisions accordingly.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to lead customer interactions when necessary.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and ownership of processes.
  • Ability to interpret lending policies accurately and apply them to portfolio management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations governing commercial lending.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
