Position Overview


The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for various essential tasks within a dynamic healthcare setting, ensuring precision and efficiency in patient registration processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately entering patient demographic and insurance details.
  • Facilitating telemedicine registrations through the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Acting as the main liaison between patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Welcoming patients with a positive attitude and assisting them upon arrival.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and collecting co-pays and outstanding balances during registration.
  • Reconciling payments at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Addressing overdue accounts during the registration process.
  • Handling incoming phone inquiries and directing them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Interpreting billing statements for patients.
  • Processing incoming Account Receivables payments.
  • Participating in mandatory training sessions and attending staff meetings.
  • Assisting with the opening and closing procedures of the facility.
  • Faxing or emailing confirmed lab results to designated parties.
  • Requesting pre-authorization for credit card transactions.
  • Establishing installment payment arrangements.
  • Promoting positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Maintaining a tidy work environment, ensuring all areas are organized at the end of each shift.
  • Reporting any patient complaints to management promptly for appropriate resolution.
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient computer skills, including basic navigation and search functions.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal abilities.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Typing speed of 40 WPM with 90% accuracy.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in patient registration.
  • Preferred: One year of experience with health insurance processes.
Compensation:
$23.50 per hour
