Job Overview


The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for a variety of tasks that include efficiently registering patients in a dynamic setting while ensuring precision and speed.

Key Responsibilities

- Accurately inputting patient demographic and insurance details.
- Facilitating telemedicine registrations via the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Acting as the main liaison between patients and healthcare staff.
- Welcoming patients with a courteous and supportive approach.
- Verifying insurance coverage.
- Collecting co-payments and outstanding balances during registration.
- Reconciling financial transactions at the conclusion of each shift.
- Addressing overdue accounts during the registration process.
- Managing incoming calls and directing them to the relevant departments.
- Clarifying billing statements for patients.
- Recording incoming payments for accounts receivable.
- Participating in required training sessions and staff meetings.
- Assisting with the procedures necessary for opening and closing the facility for patient services.
- Sending confirmed lab results via fax or email to designated recipients.
- Requesting pre-authorization for credit card transactions.
- Establishing payment plans for patients.
- Fostering positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Ensuring a tidy work environment by maintaining cleanliness in work areas and common spaces.
- Reporting any patient or parent grievances to management promptly for appropriate resolution.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

- Proficient in computer operations (logging in and out, using search engines, etc.)
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal abilities
- Understanding of HIPAA and PHI regulations

Education and Experience Requirements

- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory
- Typing speed of 40 WPM with 90% accuracy
- Preferred: One year of experience in patient registration
- Preferred: One year of experience with health insurance processes

Compensation:
$23.50 per hour
