About the Houston Campus

Our advanced campus located north of Houston is home to our Upstream, Product Solutions, and Low Carbon Solutions divisions, along with their support services. Opened in 2014, this facility accommodates over 10,000 employees and visitors.

Role Overview
  • We are seeking a seasoned Trade Compliance Advisor to join our Leadership Team, spearheading the transformation of our compliance program and organizational structure to facilitate the successful integration of SAP GTS.
  • The Senior Trade Compliance Advisor will be accountable for crafting, executing, and supervising the strategic trade compliance roadmap, collaborating closely with the Global Trade Compliance Leadership Team and ExxonMobil's business units.
  • In conjunction with the Global Trade Compliance Manager, you will identify and implement transformational initiatives (people, processes, technology) in import/export classification, valuation, customs compliance, and preferential trade, leveraging industry best practices.
  • Spot and operationalize value generation opportunities through FTAs, FTZs, duty drawback, and other regional trade programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design future state processes grounded in industry best practices, organizational structure, risk assessment, and the use of SAP GTS as enabling technology.
  • Align organizational structure and clarify roles & responsibilities to ensure efficient, risk-appropriate execution of future processes.
  • Identify additional enabling technology needs to achieve desired outcomes and enhance automation versus manual processes.
  • Oversee the overall project management of executing the strategic roadmap.
  • Redefine key performance indicators and establish the necessary data & analytics requirements.
  • Analyze global trade data to uncover further opportunities for value generation and savings through trade programs, FTAs, FTZs, duty drawback, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Global Trade Compliance Leadership Team to oversee and govern strategic activities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the SAP GTS project team, advising on implementation impacts and industry best practices.
Candidate Profile

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent education.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Trade Compliance Leadership, including hands-on knowledge of SAP GTS.
  • Proven track record in Trade Compliance process development and implementation, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Classification (HTS & ECCN), Country of Origin, Valuation, Customs Declarations (U.S. & Global), and Preferential Trade.
  • Strong business acumen and subject matter expertise related to customs compliance, regulations, and applicable laws worldwide.
  • At least 5 years of experience with preferential trade (FTAs, FTZs, duty drawback); Oil & Gas experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in integrating Trade Compliance processes across Supply Chain, Logistics, Materials Management, and Procurement.
  • Proven ability to drive transformation and process enhancements.
  • Experience in engaging with Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders, including oversight and Key Performance Indicators.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Customs Broker license is a plus.
  • Recognized expertise in Customs Regulations, Import/Export Operations, and Free Trade Agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Ability to manage complexity with speed and efficiency.
  • Strong professional leadership skills, with a sense of ownership for deliverables and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment and matrix organization.
