Business Relationship Manager Overview:
The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) plays a pivotal role in proactively identifying, acquiring, and nurturing customer relationships by maximizing sales opportunities within a designated area. This position focuses on expanding and retaining a portfolio of clients while ensuring an exceptional customer experience for both existing and potential clients.

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Deposit, Credit, and Cash Management products, the BRM supports assigned branches comprehensively.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the SME across a wide sales area of assigned branches, collaborating with branch stakeholders and other area partners (e.g., Wealth Management, Mortgage).
  • Work alongside cross-segment peers in Wealth Management, Consumer, and Mortgage to enhance relationships and execute the sales strategy.
  • Accountable for achieving scorecard metrics and KPIs as set by Senior Management.
  • Facilitate the development of small business expertise within the assigned branch team through joint sales initiatives, continuous training, and identifying referral opportunities.
  • Engage with a portfolio of high-value clients to strengthen relationships and retain their business, while proactively identifying future needs and potential challenges.
  • Educate clients on suitable products and services to enhance their experience and increase portfolio revenue.
  • Manage credit requests up to $250K and collaborate with Senior Business Bankers on larger lending relationships.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to meet scorecard objectives and attract new clients within targeted industries.
  • Adhere to established sales management routines and compliance protocols for Business Banking.
Client Relationship Management:

Proactively oversee a portfolio of high-value clients, expanding business banking relationships by identifying needs and maximizing opportunities while ensuring client satisfaction and retention.

Encourage teamwork and enhance Business Banking knowledge across all assigned branches to foster a positive customer experience, being accountable for client service metrics.

Collaborate with Consumer and Wealth business partners to deepen client engagement.

Work closely with credit and risk teams to facilitate loan closings, manage pipelines, and address any application quality or pricing issues.

Strictly follow internal control policies, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with account opening and credit protocols.

Make informed business decisions with a focus on risk assessment, safeguarding the firm’s reputation, and adhering to applicable laws and regulations.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of banking experience, ideally 2-3 years in Business Banking.
  • Exceptional consulting abilities, with a strong focus on listening, clarifying, and presenting information to advance sales and deepen relationships.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to understand complex financial and operational data.
  • Professional presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of credit structuring and processing; credit training preferred.
  • Customer-oriented with superior organizational and business development skills.

This position requires registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry and adherence to ongoing registration requirements.
