Senior Research Scientist in Cancer Epidemiology

Position Overview

The Senior Research Scientist will report directly to a Research Director and will be responsible for the design and execution of significant research initiatives related to cancer health services and epidemiology. This role is focused on applied research rather than basic laboratory science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive research projects aimed at improving cancer care delivery and patient outcomes, both independently and in collaboration with external partners.
  • Secure funding through grant proposals from federal agencies, foundations, and industry sources.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, including data analysts, project managers, and biostatisticians, to ensure successful completion of research studies.
  • Publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present research outcomes at national scientific conferences.
  • Provide expert consultation on study design, analysis strategies, and interpretation of research results.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field such as epidemiology, health services research, or a related discipline, or an MD/DO with an advanced degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in cancer epidemiology or health services, preferably within a healthcare system.
  • Demonstrated experience in observational and interventional research methodologies.
  • First author on at least 6-8 publications in the field of cancer epidemiology.
  • Proven track record in securing extramural grant funding.
  • Experience in designing and leading multiple original research studies, with a history of publishing results.
  • Willingness to commute as required.
