Knowesis is currently in search of a motivated early-career Junior Financial Consultant to become a part of our team in Silver Spring, MD.

In this capacity, you will assist the Science & Technology Enterprise Integration Division (STEID), Research and Engineering Directorate, Defense Health Agency, by providing support to the Senior Financial Consultant in managing and allocating funds, evaluating budget components, preparing business reports and presentations, visualizing data, coordinating agreements, and performing reconciliations.

As a Junior Financial Consultant, you will have the chance to acquire new financial analysis skills that will enhance your strong analytical or accounting foundation and advance your career.


This role will be executed at the client's site in Silver Spring, MD, and may follow a hybrid work arrangement, subject to the client's decision.

To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a Public Trust clearance and be U.S. Citizens without the need for sponsorship, both presently and in the future. Applications lacking proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the security clearance prerequisites.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Manage and allocate funds to various programs and projects within the Department of Defense, ensuring adherence to federal laws and regulations.
  2. Evaluate budget components such as commitments, obligations, and disbursements, utilizing financial systems and tools.
  3. Prepare and deliver business reports and presentations to senior management and stakeholders, emphasizing financial performance, trends, and risks.
  4. Create and maintain data visualizations including charts, graphs, dashboards, and tables, using software such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  5. Coordinate agreements with internal and external partners, including other agencies, to support the division's financial goals and operations.
  6. Conduct reconciliation of financial data and transactions, addressing any discrepancies or errors, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of records.
  7. Collaborate with other financial analysts and managers within the division, directorate, and across the DoD.
  8. Utilize the government's enterprise resource planning system to generate purchase requisitions and monitor fund status.
  9. Assist with financial meetings, including scheduling, agendas, tracking action items, and preparing meeting minutes.
  10. Conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting of financial execution data.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must possess:

  • A BS degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools such as MS Excel or Power BI for financial data analysis.
  • Proficiency in using MS PowerPoint for creating presentations.
  • A meticulous approach to data analysis.
  • A demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new tools, skills, and processes to accomplish analytical and business tasks, enhancing work efficiency and quality.
  • A minimum of 1 year of internship, project, and/or job experience involving budget, financial, or accounting data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Knowledge or experience in Department of Defense financial systems.
  • Knowledge or experience in DoD or federal institutions engaged in research or development management.

Education:

Minimum BS degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
