As a key member of our skilled team of engineers and specialists, you will contribute to the development of Avionics Systems for various spaceflight initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass all facets of Avionics Systems Engineering, including the selection of optimal design solutions for system layouts, packaging, harnessing, and component selection. You will engage in concept development, requirements definition, interface control document (ICD) creation, procurement, verification planning, vehicle integration, system assembly, and operational support, producing essential artifacts and analyses to support project objectives.

This role reports to the Avionics Systems Engineering Manager and is part of the Avionics Integrated Project Team.

You will collaborate closely with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. Your contributions will be instrumental in the advancement of the Lunar Transportation system, which aims to return humans to the Moon and establish a permanent human presence beyond Earth.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science).
  • Typically, candidates for this role possess 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply high-level system requirements to practical design solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with the installation and troubleshooting of various electronic sensors and components.
  • Familiarity with analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, power supply components and design, batteries, solar cells, RF systems, serial communication, and/or telemetry systems.
  • In-depth understanding of systems engineering practices, including requirements development, standard verification methods, functional decomposition, standard diagramming techniques, and risk management.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of industry experience with large engineering systems.
  • Experience in designing and developing flight-proven spacecraft hardware.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Matlab or Python.
  • Experience with harnessing and component packaging.
  • Familiarity with requirements management software (DNG or JAMA preferred).
  • Experience in developing products from early trade studies through final design, manufacturing, and testing.
