Role Overview

This position is integral to our Lunar Permanence division, which is responsible for the development of the Blue Moon lander series. Our mission is to establish sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface, contributing to a future where humanity can live and work in space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design of spacecraft navigation sensors from initial prototypes to critical hardware.
  • Conduct systems analysis, component selection, schematic design, and PCB layout while ensuring thorough testing and integration.
  • Collaborate with various teams, including manufacturing and supply chain, to facilitate seamless project execution.
  • Design and implement development and qualification testing campaigns to validate navigation hardware performance.
  • Support navigation hardware throughout its lifecycle, from design to flight integration.
  • Work within a dynamic team of engineers to develop reliable navigation sensors for spacecraft.
  • Assist the GN&C subsystem technical lead in making informed architectural decisions at both subsystem and system levels.
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive range of navigation sensors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in developing spacecraft navigation sensors or avionics systems.
  • Strong background in low-noise analog and high-speed digital circuit design.
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, debugging, and testing electrical systems.
  • Skilled in creating electrical design schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Proficient with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for high-radiation or space environments.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft avionics communication protocols (e.g., MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, Ethernet).
  • Ability to foster trust and maintain professional relationships within a diverse team.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in FPGA design using VHDL.
  • Experience in building lidar sensors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of EEE parts selection for human-rated space applications.
  • Knowledge in terrain-relative navigation and hazard detection.
