Position Summary:

We are seeking individuals in recovery to assist others who are in the initial stages of their recovery journey. This role focuses on providing non-clinical, strength-based peer support, helping individuals navigate the care system and overcome barriers. As a Recovery Coach, you will act as a mentor and guide, facilitating connections to the recovery community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the planning and execution of community initiatives that foster recovery.
  • Exhibit proficiency in strategies aimed at preventing relapse.
  • Deliver orientation services regarding membership programs and their requirements.
  • Provide confidential support that is responsive to gender, culture, and trauma.
  • Collaborate with each assigned individual to create a personalized recovery plan, setting both short and long-term goals.
  • Coordinate with various agencies and attend appointments with individuals for probation, employment, education, and other necessary services.
  • Connect individuals to community resources, including peer support groups and legal services.
  • Educate individuals on financial management, housing stability, health, and life skills.
  • Provide crisis intervention by assessing situations, de-escalating individuals, and developing safety plans.
  • Model recovery principles and demonstrate that recovery is achievable.
  • Ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs.
  • Respond to emergencies by contacting appropriate services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; exceptions may apply in certain cases.
  • Must have personal experience with recovery and a minimum of 2 years of continuous sobriety.
  • Knowledge of the addiction treatment service system.
  • Completion of a recovery coach academy.
  • Eligibility for certification as a recovery coach.
  • Experience working with adults facing substance use disorders.
