Job Summary:

Brockton Area Multi-Servi is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in Non-Directive Support: Develop and maintain supportive relationships with individuals, promoting empowerment and self-learning.
  • Provide Peer Counseling: Offer guidance and support to individuals, validating their experiences and serving as a role model.
  • Assist with Treatment Planning: Collaborate with Integrated Teams to implement treatment plan interventions.
  • Lead Skill-Building Groups: Facilitate groups to help individuals develop skills and strategies for recovery.
  • Act as an Interpreter: Assist non-mental health team members in understanding and respecting individual experiences.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work with program staff and leadership to promote a culture of recovery and self-determination.
  • Combat Stigma: Help individuals identify and combat mental health-related stigma and discrimination.
  • Protect Rights: Assist individuals in understanding their rights and grievance procedures.
  • Provide Ongoing Support: Offer coaching, skills training, and support to help individuals achieve their goals.
  • Assist with Daily Living Tasks: Help individuals with activities that promote wellness, such as personal hygiene, meal procurement, and transportation.
  • Support Socialization: Assist individuals in finding safe and comfortable ways to socialize and engage with others.
  • Communicate Professionally: Represent Brockton Area Multi-Servi in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  • Ensure Safety Standards: Execute duties to reflect safety standards and universal precautions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalency, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Certification: Must be a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach/Certified Peer Specialist, or in the process of obtaining certification.
  • Personal Experience: A personal history of recovery and a sound understanding of and commitment to the consumer-led recovery movement.
  • Communication Skills: Good listening and communication skills.
  • Mental Health Knowledge: Knowledge of the mental health system, including comfort in dealing with both traditional and non-traditional providers.
  • Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence and own means of transportation.
  • Language Skills: Preference given to candidates with fluency in languages prevalent in Southeastern MA.
