Position Summary:

We are seeking individuals in recovery to assist others who are beginning their recovery journey. This role focuses on providing non-clinical, strength-based peer support to help individuals navigate the complexities of the care system. As a Recovery Coach, you will act as a personal mentor, guiding individuals through their recovery process and connecting them with the recovery community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the planning and execution of community initiatives that foster recovery.
  • Exhibit proficiency in strategies for preventing relapse.
  • Facilitate orientation sessions for membership programs.
  • Deliver confidential support that is culturally sensitive and trauma-informed.
  • Collaborate with each assigned individual to create a personalized recovery plan, setting achievable short- and long-term goals.
  • When applicable, coordinate with various agencies to support individuals in areas such as probation, employment, and education.
  • Connect individuals to community resources, including peer support groups and legal services.
  • Educate individuals on essential life skills, financial management, and health-related topics.
  • Provide crisis intervention, assessing situations and developing safety plans as necessary.
  • Model recovery principles and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
  • Ability to navigate physical environments, including climbing stairs.
  • Respond to emergencies by contacting appropriate services.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; exceptions may apply.
  • Must have personal experience with recovery and at least 2 years of continuous sobriety.
  • Knowledge of the addiction treatment service system is essential.
  • Completion of a recovery coach academy is required.
  • Eligibility for certification as a recovery coach.
  • Experience working with adults facing substance use disorders.
