Job Title: Coordinator of Social Justice Programs

Organization: Associated Students (AS)

Associated Students serves as the representative body for students at San Francisco State University, dedicated to enhancing the student experience through a commitment to social equity and collaborative governance. AS is focused on empowering a diverse student population and advocates for their needs through various programs and services.

Role Summary:

Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Culture and Social Justice, the Coordinator of Social Justice Programs plays a crucial role in the management of student-led initiatives, including the Education and Referral Organization for Sexuality (EROS), the Women's Center (WC), and the Queer Trans Resource Center (QTRC). This position is vital in fostering programs, events, and services that embody social justice principles.

  • Oversee and facilitate program planning and coordination for EROS, WC, and QTRC, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with student directors to create annual financial plans for EROS, WC, and QTRC.
  • Ensure that all initiatives are informed by a comprehensive understanding of intersectionality and the historical contexts affecting marginalized communities, particularly focusing on individuals from diverse racial backgrounds.
  • Provide guidance, advocacy, and support to students, faculty, and staff on matters related to sexuality, gender identity, and social justice, while directing individuals to appropriate resources as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Ethnic Studies, Sociology, Education, or Behavioral Sciences.
  • Three to four years of pertinent experience working with students, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • A minimum of three years in a supervisory role.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of library operations, art curation, and relevant performance standards.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, promoting equitable practices and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to varied audiences.
  • Aptitude for functioning in a multilingual and culturally diverse environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $45,000 – $57,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
