General Overview:

The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for analyzing laboratory specimens and reporting results in accordance with established laboratory protocols and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts precise and appropriate testing of laboratory specimens following established protocols.
  • Reports test outcomes promptly in compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Adheres to quality control procedures and escalates discrepancies to the Medical Technologist II or Director/Supervisor.
  • Performs routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoots issues with instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimens, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Follows safety protocols and universal precautions in the laboratory and hospital settings.
  • Executes phlebotomy procedures as needed for patients.
  • Participates in mandatory safety training and understands responsibilities related to safety and job-specific hazards.
  • Demonstrates respect and professionalism towards patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Assists in training new laboratory personnel and students, ensuring they meet competency standards.
