Role Overview:

The Clinical Lead RN is pivotal in overseeing the clinical team within the Surgical Oncology department. This full-time position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, consisting of 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care Management:

- Facilitate patient check-in processes, document essential information such as chief complaints and vital signs, and ensure accurate charge capture for ancillary services.

- Administer medications and injections as per physician directives, and manage laboratory specimens and requisitions.

- Coordinate follow-up care and communication with various healthcare entities, ensuring seamless patient transitions.

- Independently handle patient triage calls, providing guidance to support staff as necessary.

2. Performance Monitoring:

- Collaborate with Practice Leadership to track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) including financial stability, patient experience, operational efficiency, and employee satisfaction.

3. Clinical Expertise:

- Serve as a resource for clinical staff, demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and support.

4. Inventory Management:

- Oversee medical supply inventory, ensuring timely ordering and follow-up on outstanding requests.

5. Staff Management:

- Manage PTO requests and maintain optimal staffing levels through effective scheduling.

6. Workflow Optimization:

- Develop and implement guidelines for prioritizing work activities, assessing effectiveness, and adjusting as needed.

7. Staff Development:

- Collaborate with Nursing Education to mentor and train clinical staff, enhancing competency and patient satisfaction.

8. Team Collaboration:

- Work closely with Practice Manager and Nursing Leaders for hiring, performance evaluations, and team coaching.

9. Clinical Workflow Oversight:

- Monitor clinical workflows, addressing inefficiencies and implementing corrective action plans to meet KPIs.

10. Clinical Meetings:

- Conduct monthly meetings with clinical staff to review performance metrics and discuss improvement strategies.

11. Patient Satisfaction Initiatives:

- Utilize patient feedback to develop targeted improvement plans.

12. Issue Resolution:

- Proactively escalate concerns to management as necessary.

13. Additional Duties:

- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Valid RN License (CT or NY based on Practice Location)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Working Conditions:
