Clinical Nurse for Interventional Radiology

Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily operates during day shifts as required by departmental needs, with on-call duties expected.
- Assists Interventional Radiologists with daily procedures and executes physician directives.
- Conducts nursing assessments at the time of procedures or within one week of initiation, including medication reconciliation.
- Collects medical histories, evaluates patients for specific needs (such as skin reactions, contrast reactions, vital signs, dietary requirements), and formulates appropriate care and recovery plans. Utilizes clinical judgment to implement emergency interventions and ensure patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes.
- Educates patients, their families, and healthcare providers on procedures, treatments, potential side effects, and symptom management.
- Provides direct patient care as necessary: adjusts and activates medical equipment, connects patients to monitoring devices, and oversees IVs and other equipment for both outpatients and inpatients, ensuring safety assessments and medication administration as prescribed.
- Documents all assessments and clinical care provided, referrals for services, communications with other departments or physician offices, and medication administration in the medical record. Assists with patient documentation needs for medical leave and related matters.
- Maintains collaboration with other disciplines, including nutritional support, speech therapy, social work, navigators, social services, inpatient staff, and office personnel.
- Exhibits a positive professional demeanor by demonstrating effective patient experience skills, strong communication abilities, and professional conduct and appearance.
- Supports Radiologists, Front Desk Staff, and Radiologic Technologists with scheduling and workflow management to ensure patient safety and efficient operations. Provides nursing support across all areas of the Imaging Department as needed.
- Adheres to all compliance responsibilities related to the position, including the management of supplies in examination rooms and equipment.
- Completes all compliance responsibilities pertinent to the role.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required: Associate Degree or higher; a minimum of three years of experience; current Registered Nurse License; CPR certification.
Preferred: Experience in an Interventional Radiology or Catheterization Lab environment.
Working Conditions:
Manual: Significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
Occupational: Some occupational risk.
Physical Effort: Very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.
