Position Summary:

This role operates under the guidance of the Manager of Adjustments and Operations Department, with a focus on overseeing a meticulous quality inspection process that aligns with individual vendor specifications. The incumbent will possess a comprehensive understanding of tire inspection duties, offer leadership to the returns center team, and facilitate communication among vendors, distribution centers, and corporate departments in the absence of the Manager of Adjustments. Additionally, this position will act as the primary liaison for specific return center clients regarding exceptional requests, while managing a wide array of logistics functions consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Manager of Adjustments in daily operations and ensure compliance with internal audits to uphold standardized inspection processes according to vendor requirements and TIA standards. This includes assessing both administrative and inspection activities and preparing reports for management that highlight standards and areas needing improvement.
  • Regularly review internal documentation to confirm the existence of an audit trail for all inspections conducted.
  • Assist the Manager of Adjustments with the merger and acquisition adjustment process as necessary, which may involve some travel.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read, analyze, and interpret vendor technical bulletins and other internal company reports, as well as NHTSA regulations.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of tire and wheel inspection guidelines and procedures.
  • Have knowledge of profit and loss calculations and basic business finance to ensure that customer credits are balanced with vendor credits.
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of current materials, methods, tools, and equipment related to tire adjustments, including Hunter mounting and balancing machines.
  • Exhibit strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities while meeting vendor expectations.
  • Effectively carry out both oral and written instructions.
  • Communicate proficiently in both oral and written formats.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to team members as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum High School/GED; preferred: additional 2 years of experience in tire and wheel inspection.
  • Experience: Sufficient experience to operate under general supervision.
  • Alternative qualifications may be considered at the discretion of the company.

Essential Competencies:

  • Conduct technical evaluations for tire, tube, and wheel returns, entering findings into system Z and Oracle, and retrieving credits from On Base. Comprehensive knowledge of Hunter balancer and mounting machine is essential.
  • Oversee all logistical processes on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the team meets established objectives while continuously reducing backlog.
  • Establish and uphold American Tire Distributors' standards of inspection quality and service to align with unique vendor standards and warranties.
  • Manage inquiries from individual distribution centers and customers regarding warranty and inspection processes.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of inspection, pricing, and vendor programs available to customers.
  • Train both internal and external customers on the processes involved in decision-making for all returns based on individual vendor criteria.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical demands: The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects or tools, lifting up to 150 pounds, and performing tasks that may involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically mild.
  • Travel requirements: Approximately 10% of the time.
