We nurture grassroots leadership among our members, enabling them to drive social change. ACT has a rich history of supporting African immigrants through various services, training leaders, and influencing policy at multiple levels.

Role Description:

As part of our initiative to enhance voter participation, ACT is launching a comprehensive outreach campaign aimed at African voters. This effort seeks to elevate voter turnout in critical areas, inform the community about pressing issues, and encourage membership in our statewide organization. We are looking for a candidate with leadership experience who can thrive in a collaborative environment and is committed to mobilizing the African community for upcoming elections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: Conduct respectful, face-to-face discussions with African voters in targeted neighborhoods.
  • Goal Achievement: Meet weekly outreach and engagement objectives.
  • Voter Information: Provide unbiased information on voter readiness, ballot access, and voting methods.
  • Voter Verification: Confirm voter information and facilitate turnout through various voting options.
  • Fieldwork: Travel daily to designated outreach areas.
  • Recruitment: Engage and encourage African voters to participate in ACT's initiatives.

Data Management:

  • Metrics Tracking: Record outreach metrics and voter data accurately.
  • Information Maintenance: Ensure accurate records of each voter interaction.
  • Data Synchronization: Update and save new information from voters promptly.
  • Feedback Collection: Provide insights on community concerns and priorities.

Training and Development:

  • Skill Enhancement: Attend mandatory training sessions to improve outreach techniques.
  • Storytelling: Learn to share personal narratives that resonate with voters.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in meetings to stay informed about campaign strategies and updates.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in outreach or community organizing is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in languages such as Amharic, Arabic, or French is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of African immigrant communities and social justice issues.
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required.
  • Proficient with technology, including mobile devices and virtual platforms.
  • Dependable and punctual throughout the campaign duration.
  • Able to walk long distances as needed.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accurate data entry.
