The Community Autism Peer Specialist will provide support and outreach to individuals with autism and their families, connecting them to community resources and services. This role requires a strong understanding of autism and behavioral health services, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Outreach and Engagement: Conduct outreach and build relationships with individuals with autism and their families, identifying their needs and connecting them to relevant services.
- Service Navigation: Educate individuals with autism and their families about available services and resources, and assist them in accessing these services.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: Work with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and coordination.
- Advocacy and Support: Provide emotional support and advocacy to individuals with autism and their families, helping them to navigate the healthcare system and access necessary resources.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of interactions with individuals and families, and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Experience: Experience working with individuals with autism and their families, preferably in a community-based setting.
