Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Loan Accounting will utilize their expertise in accounting and analytical capabilities, alongside a solid grasp of US GAAP, to manage the comprehensive loan accounting operations at Prosper. This role encompasses various responsibilities including loan accounting, reconciliations, analytics, compliance with internal controls, and technical documentation.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of loan accounting and data management platforms, such as Google Cloud Platform. They must demonstrate the ability to enhance operational efficiency, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and address issues with a strong sense of ownership and urgency. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the complete loan accounting process for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, ensuring timely completion and addressing or escalating issues as necessary.
  • Prepare accounting entries and perform account reconciliations for various financial transactions, including borrower and investor payables/receivables, revenue and contra-revenue, securitization accounting, loan servicing, and debt sales.
  • Review journal entries and other outputs from accounting staff to ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Conduct monthly financial statement fluctuation analyses for management reporting purposes.
  • Assist in preparing schedules to support regulatory and management reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial disclosures.
  • Collaborate with business partners to provide financial insights and relevant reporting.
  • Support documentation and information requirements for year-end audits.
  • Engage in the ongoing development, establishment, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements, offer recommendations, and implement changes.
  • Participate actively in system upgrades and data testing initiatives.
  • Deliver on ad-hoc projects and deliverables as required.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • Proven experience in Loan Accounting and strong analytical skills are essential.
  • 8+ years of experience demonstrating knowledge and application of GAAP accounting policies and practices, particularly in organizations offering consumer lending products.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data flow through financial systems to the accounting function, enabling issue identification and resolution.
  • Strong analytical abilities coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated individual comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative cross-functional team.
  • Positive demeanor with a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) and familiarity with SQL or GCP.
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from $151,000 to $189,000 annually, in addition to bonuses and comprehensive benefits. Salary considerations will take into account location, experience, and other job-related factors.
