Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Loan Accounting will utilize their accounting expertise and analytical capabilities, along with a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, to manage the complete loan accounting operations at Prosper. This encompasses loan accounting, reconciliations, analytics, compliance with internal controls, and technical research and documentation.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of loan accounting and data management systems, particularly Google Cloud Platform. They should demonstrate the ability to enhance operational efficiency, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues, all while exhibiting a strong sense of ownership and urgency. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire loan accounting process for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring timely completion and addressing or escalating issues as necessary.
  • Prepare accounting entries and account reconciliations for various financial transactions, including borrower and investor payables/receivables, revenue and contra-revenue, securitization accounting, loan servicing, and debt sales.
  • Review journal entries and other work completed by accounting staff to ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Generate monthly financial statement fluctuation analyses for management reporting purposes.
  • Assist in preparing schedules to support regulatory and management reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with business partners to provide financial insights and relevant reporting.
  • Support documentation and information requirements for year-end audits.
  • Engage in the ongoing development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements, offer recommendations, and implement changes.
  • Participate actively in system upgrades and data testing initiatives.
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and deliverables as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • Experience in Loan Accounting and strong problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • 8+ years of experience demonstrating knowledge and application of GAAP accounting principles, with experience in consumer lending organizations being advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of data flow through financial systems to the accounting function, enabling effective issue identification and resolution.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
  • Positive demeanor with a readiness to engage proactively.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) and familiarity with SQL or GCP.
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $151,000 to $189,000 annually, in addition to bonuses and comprehensive benefits. Salary considerations will include location, experience, and other job-related factors.
