Position Overview

As a key member of the Houston Methodist team, the Healthcare Application Specialist plays a vital role in providing mid-level support and configuration for designated applications. This role involves assisting, training, and guiding users in the effective operation and management of systems. The Healthcare Application Specialist is responsible for diagnosing issues and collaborating with vendors for resolution, while also partnering with users to enhance their understanding of available tools aimed at improving operational efficiency. Responsibilities may include creating documentation and assisting other IT teams with various challenges. This position is committed to ensuring that the services rendered contribute to the achievement of departmental and organizational objectives. The Healthcare Application Specialist will possess intermediate technical knowledge to support specific healthcare applications and will engage in cross-training to gain proficiency in multiple applications. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares clear and professional written communications.

  • Provides assistance, training, and support to users in system operations.

  • Debugs, programs, and tests applications. Proposes effective solutions to client needs.
  • Utilizes knowledge of assigned applications to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Facilitates meetings effectively, developing objectives and action items.
  • Supports and installs software applications, including on-call support.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a clinical or IT role.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Three years of experience in IT or clinical/business workflows.
  • Experience in supporting clinical or business environments.
License/Certification

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
  • Certification within six months of hire, if applicable to assigned application.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrates necessary skills and competencies for the role.
  • Proficient in English communication, particularly in patient and employee safety contexts.
