Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in delivering direct patient care within various healthcare settings, including community health centers and mobile clinics. Under the supervision of clinic providers, the Healthcare Support Specialist will undertake clinical tasks, laboratory responsibilities, and assist with patient eligibility verification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates patient appointments by conducting phlebotomy (both capillary and venous draws), urine collection, pregnancy tests, lead testing, monitoring vital signs, and compiling patient histories.
  • Provides in-room assistance to clinical staff during patient visits, including supporting the provider during medical procedures.
  • Engages in data entry and electronic data management utilizing the electronic medical record system (Epic), Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software.
  • Prepares and organizes the patient waiting area and reception space prior to clinic sessions.
  • Assists the front office team with tasks such as answering phone calls, managing patient collections, and checking in patients as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant in the state of Texas.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • A minimum of six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a medical office, hospital, or laboratory setting.
  • Four years of experience as a Medical Assistant, demonstrating proficiency in laboratory procedures within the first month of employment.
