Position Summary
The Major Gifts Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing fundraising initiatives. This position involves collaborating with leadership and board members to cultivate relationships with high-capacity donors. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing strategies for donor engagement and retention.
- Managing a portfolio of over 100 major donors and prospects.
- Conducting personalized outreach and face-to-face meetings to discuss philanthropic opportunities.
- Tracking donor interactions and contributions using established systems.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Identification (15%):
- Utilize donor databases to enhance relationships with existing supporters.
- Identify potential new donors through networking and community engagement.
- Attend relevant events to connect with prospective donors.
Donor Engagement (20%):
- Schedule and conduct meetings with potential donors to communicate the organization’s mission and impact.
- Build trust by providing comprehensive information about programs and initiatives.
- Identify and align donor interests with organizational goals.
Donor Relations (25%):
- Keep current donors informed about organizational achievements and opportunities for involvement.
- Create meaningful engagement opportunities, including events and site visits.
- Ensure donors feel valued and appreciated for their contributions.
Proposal Development (40%):
- Collaborate with donors to understand their philanthropic goals and interests.
- Prepare and present compelling funding proposals to secure support.
- Clearly communicate the impact of donations and the needs of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong proficiency in donor management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
