Cygnet Theatre is embarking on an exciting journey as we approach the final stages of a significant Capital Campaign aimed at establishing a cutting-edge performing arts venue. This position will report directly to the Development Director and collaborate closely with the Executive Director and the Development team to nurture and manage relationships with major gift contributors.
Role Overview
The Senior Philanthropy Manager will be instrumental in identifying, engaging, and cultivating relationships with major gift donors. This role is designed for a seasoned fundraising professional who is adept at managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop tailored engagement strategies for each donor within your portfolio, focusing on individuals capable of making significant contributions.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and the development team to effectively engage donors, securing major gifts through personalized solicitations and proposals.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of warm leads and established major donors, ensuring consistent communication and effective stewardship.
- Work in partnership with the development and communications teams to align messaging and fundraising efforts.
- Utilize donor management systems to track interactions, maintain donor relationships, and produce detailed reports on fundraising activities.
- Participate in events and networking opportunities to strengthen donor relationships and advance fundraising goals.
- Stay informed about trends and best practices in fundraising and philanthropy, applying this knowledge to enhance strategies.
- Be prepared for flexible scheduling, including evening and weekend commitments, to meet the demands of the role.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with at least two years focused on major gifts, preferably within the performing arts sector.
- A genuine passion for the arts and a commitment to building relationships with donors, recognizing their integral role in our success.
- A proven history of successful fundraising, demonstrating a solid understanding of strategies and systems.
- Experience managing a varied portfolio of donors with attention to detail and a proactive approach.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including effective listening and communication abilities, with proficiency in writing and public speaking.
- Strong analytical skills, using data insights to inform fundraising strategies and decisions.
- A positive demeanor and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
