About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Philanthropy Director to join our team at Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support our mission of empowering youth in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategy: Create and execute a strategic plan to achieve our annual fundraising goals, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, and special events.
  • Lead Development Team: Supervise and mentor a team of development professionals, including the Partnerships & Outreach Manager, Event Lead, and Development Coordinator.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Foster strong relationships with donors, corporate partners, and community leaders to secure funding and support for our programs.
  • Manage Events and Campaigns: Oversee the planning and execution of special events, campaigns, and other fundraising initiatives to engage and inspire our supporters.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership: Work closely with our CEO and other senior leaders to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Stay current with best practices and trends in fundraising and development to ensure our strategies are effective and innovative.
Requirements
  • Experience: 6+ years of development experience, including proven success in events management, marketing, and communications.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required, CFRE preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of San Diego's philanthropic community and nonprofit sector.
