The Red Cross supports various cultural and community resource groups for employees and volunteers. These networks provide connections, mentoring, and a platform for voicing important concerns and opinions.

The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Senior Philanthropy Partner to support the Northern California Coastal Region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. This role will implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for an assigned major donor portfolio of approximately 35 donors, aiming to raise over $3M for the Pacific Division of the Red Cross.

2. Manage and develop individual and family foundation major donor accounts, including complex donor solicitations. Responsibilities include:

  • Securing major contributions in the range of $1M to $5M.
  • Overseeing systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools.
  • Creating and executing moves management plans.
  • Conducting direct, face-to-face solicitations and assisting other staff with their solicitations (e.g., providing portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and donor communication assistance).
  • Recognizing major donors through public and private acknowledgment.
  • Monitoring and reporting progress using specific metrics.

3. Enhance the capacity to identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors by providing educational, technical, and program support.
4. Support the Red Cross Women in Philanthropy initiative as part of portfolio growth, offering guidance and mentoring to the division team on expanding this donor group.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of fundraising and/or sales leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is required. Extensive knowledge of fundraising and/or sales principles and techniques in large organizations is essential. A proven track record in soliciting substantial funding amounts is necessary. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.

  • Skills & Abilities: Exceptional organizational, collaborative, analytical, presentation, and communication (interpersonal, oral, and written) skills. Strong project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge). Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Travel: 25-40% business travel may be required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for this position is $150K - $170K.
