Key Responsibilities of a Childcare Program Coordinator
  • Assist in the planning, oversight, and execution of childcare programs in line with California Community Care Licensing and California Department of Education guidelines.
  • Supervise a maximum of 14 children independently, or up to 20 children under the specified educational guidelines.
  • When applicable, oversee an Assistant or Associate Teacher managing up to 28 children under the licensing guidelines.
  • Provide attentive care and supervision to children, ensuring a proactive and interactive approach.
  • Create a nurturing environment that supports the development of all children.
  • Utilize positive behavior guidance techniques tailored to each child's unique needs.
  • Implement activities and lesson plans effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards within the program.
  • Manage the setup and cleanup of the program area, including cleaning tasks.
  • Support the Site Supervisor in program planning and administration.
  • Assist in the selection and training of staff members.
  • Ensure adherence to accurate enrollment and attendance protocols.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with children and their families.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in a childcare environment.
  • Complete necessary certifications within 30 days of employment.
  • Fulfill all required training specific to the Branch and Position within two weeks of hire.
  • California Community Care Licensing Requirement: Minimum of 12 units in Child Development or a related field, plus 3 units in Administration (waiver possible for the Administration course within the first year of employment).
  • California Department of Education Requirement: 48 college units or an Associate's Degree.
  • Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance.
  • Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to starting work.
