Position Overview

The Alumni Engagement department serves as a crucial connection between the University and its alumni community. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement, the Alumni Relations Program Coordinator will oversee the planning and execution of alumni-focused events and initiatives. This role also includes the management and support of the Cal Poly Alumni Association Board of Directors and alumni volunteers. Additionally, the coordinator will provide administrative assistance on various complex projects and events related to the Alumni Engagement office.

Department Insight

The University Development and Alumni Engagement Division is dedicated to nurturing strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance support for the institution. This division is responsible for implementing a comprehensive advancement strategy, which includes fundraising, donor relations, gift processing, trust and endowment management, and support for the donor database. Essential Qualifications
  • Proficient understanding of standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques relevant to Alumni Engagement, enabling informed conclusions and recommendations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of policies, procedures, and external regulations governing alumni outreach initiatives.
  • Exemplary customer service abilities, demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Capability to use tact and diplomacy to manage a wide range of sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse individuals, effectively addressing conflicts and challenges.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain effective communication and teamwork, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment within the University and with a diverse population.
Education and Experience Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. One year of relevant technical or administrative experience is required. A graduate degree in a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education on a year-for-year basis.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one by the start date.
Compensation and Benefits

Expected Salary Range: $56,000 - $68,000 annually

Classification Salary Range: $44,328 - $85,572 annually
