9B Neuro Cardiac Intermediate Team:
This unit boasts a diverse culture of skill levels, offering opportunities for growth and advancement at all stages of your career. Whether you are a recent nursing graduate aiming to elevate your nursing career towards ICU or an experienced nurse seeking leadership and mentorship roles, our Neuro Cardiac Intermediate unit has something valuable to offer. This facility is the only one in the vicinity that conducts craniotomies, and our team collaborates closely with brain surgeons, making this a key specialty of our unit.

We foster a familial atmosphere on 9B, where encouragement and support are always readily available. With only one traveler on the team, our nursing staff is committed to collective success, ensuring that there is always someone to rely on when needed.

Unit Specifics of 9B Neuro Cardiac Intermediate: This is a 19-bed unit, featuring 6 high acuity beds and 13 telemetry beds. The unit caters to a diverse patient demographic with intricate cardiac and neurological requirements. Our progressive patient population may include those with heightened oxygen needs, advanced medication management, and rigorous neurological assessment standards. The cardiac and neuro patient populations converge to include individuals with cardiac arrhythmias, evaluations for chest pain, cardiac catheterizations, as well as post-craniotomy patients recovering from brain tumors and stroke patients. Many of our patients are in recovery from severe critical illnesses, necessitating frequent monitoring, nursing interventions, and complex care coordination, alongside intensive rehabilitation from physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Due to the high acuity of our progressive bed patients, the typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, with a 1:4 ratio for telemetry beds.
