Job Title: Endoscopy Support Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia

This role is essential in assisting medical professionals during specialized procedures and managing the necessary equipment. The Endoscopy Support Specialist is responsible for anticipating the needs for instruments throughout procedures, providing support during complex and high-stakes interventions, ensuring adequate supply levels, and aiding in urgent transportation when required. Additional responsibilities include maintaining quality control records, overseeing special order items, and engaging in initiatives aimed at enhancing hospital operations.

  • Collaborates with physicians, physician assistants, the anesthesia team, and nursing staff during invasive medical procedures.
  • Provides support to direct care providers in both the Preparation and Recovery Room settings.
  • Maintains required skills and competencies relevant to the role.
  • Contributes to the overall Endoscopy Care Environment.
  • Effectively communicates with colleagues and clients, taking ownership of professional growth.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience: No prior experience necessary.
  • Licensure: Must possess nursing assistant certification or a valid EMT certification upon hire. Alternatively, two years of endoscopy experience may be accepted in lieu of nursing assistant or EMT licensure. AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification is mandatory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and mobility. Physical demands include lifting instrument sets and exposure to various environmental factors such as chemicals, temperature variations, and bodily fluids.
