Your role will encompass providing essential services such as preparation for medical procedures, engaging therapeutic activities, and educational support regarding health conditions and treatments.

Our Pediatric Support Specialists prioritize the emotional, social, and developmental aspects of children and adolescents in medical settings, striving to enhance coping mechanisms and alleviate stress, anxiety, and trauma linked to healthcare experiences.

We have opportunities available in:

  • Pediatric Acute Care
  • Pediatric Outpatient Surgical Center
  • Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (Heme/Onc)

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Recognizing and promoting the significance of therapeutic activities in aiding children's adjustment to healthcare situations
  • Assessing and understanding the learning preferences and requirements of patients and their families
  • Preparing children and families for medical interventions
  • Facilitating play-based medical experiences for patients and their siblings
  • Supporting families in coping with diagnoses, treatment processes, hospitalization, and grief
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop programs and special events
  • Upholding dignity and respect for all individuals
  • Building relationships that embody family-centered care principles
  • Contributing effectively within the team environment
  • Maintaining accurate records and fulfilling training obligations
  • Performing additional responsibilities as needed

Compensation Information: $34.02 per hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Life or a related field in Child Development, along with completion of a 480-hour Child Life Internship
  • Licensure: Child Life Professional Certification and AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification to be obtained within one year of employment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position involves standing for extended periods, bending, and various physical activities.
