Job Overview

Position Details:

Job Title: Culinary Support Specialist

Department: Dietary Services

Reports to: Director of Dining Services

Employment Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Part-Time (20-30 hours per week)

Position Summary: Responsible for preparing and serving beverages, desserts, and salads as assigned. Assists in setting up the dining area with all necessary items, excluding hot foods. Facilitates the serving of special meals and manages social events. Ensures cleanliness and organization in all aspects of dishwashing, mopping, stocking, and waste disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide service to residents in dining areas and prepare trays for delivery to resident apartments.
  2. Set up and serve trays for the Health Care Center food cart.
  3. Wrap and organize silverware.
  4. Prepare beverages such as tea and coffee.
  5. Serve juices and drinks during meals and snacks.
  6. Collect and deliver supplemental feedings to nursing staff.
  7. Manage late or "hold" trays.
  8. Assist in setting up and cleaning after special events.
  9. Support the Cook in meal preparation as necessary.
  10. Maintain cleanliness of the tray line after each meal service.
  11. Transport trays to the dish room and prepare them for washing.
  12. Utilize a mechanical dishwasher to clean plates and utensils.
  13. Keep work areas, including carts and dining tables, tidy and organized.
  14. Consider residents' preferences in food service.
  15. Exhibit courtesy and respect towards residents at all times.
  16. Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors.
  17. Collect and dispose of trash and recycling materials.
  18. Stock shelves with food, paper, and cleaning supplies as directed.
  19. Carry out any additional tasks that enhance the efficiency of the department.
