Senior Buyer/Planner Role Overview

The Senior Buyer/Planner will be responsible for managing projects and initiatives that have a substantial scope and influence on the organization. This position entails overseeing intricate and significant tasks that have long-term effects on materials acquisition, working closely with Supply Chain Category Managers to ensure alignment with the operational strategy. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in sourcing diverse components within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and sustain relationships with key suppliers to guarantee quality, timely delivery, and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Material Planning and Procurement: Efficiently manage material planning and purchasing to fulfill production requirements, including addressing deviations and expediting parts as needed.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track performance against material plans, proactively addressing issues to minimize risks in meeting customer demands and inventory targets.
  • Leadership in Planning Tools: Provide guidance in utilizing advanced planning tools for optimized material plans and developing the master schedule.
  • Collaboration in Production Meetings: Engage in daily production meetings and assist in resolving MRP challenges.
  • Mentorship: Contribute to the development of junior Buyer/Planners to achieve production schedules and organizational goals.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement using LEAN methodologies for measurable enhancements in organizational performance.
  • Forecast Process Enhancement: Drive improvements in forecasting processes to increase predictability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, sourcing, production control, and quality assurance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing role.
  • A demonstrated customer-focused approach.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • A proven track record of success in previous Supply Chain roles.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production control systems.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
