Clinical Nursing Leader

The Director of Nursing Services acts as the primary clinical authority within the community, responsible for leading and overseeing the health and wellness initiatives, as well as the coordination of care and services provided to residents. This role encompasses the management and execution of all care programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, recruitment, and performance oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Wellness Management:
- Provides strategic direction for resident care by managing and supervising the nursing team in accordance with applicable laws, aimed at enhancing the health and wellness of the resident population.
- Delivers clinical care through the nursing process; conducts and documents resident assessments, monitors changes in care requirements, develops Individualized Service Plans (ISP), and evaluates resident outcomes.
- Collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians and pharmacists, to ensure comprehensive care and services for residents.
- Acts as the CLIA Director as required by federal and state regulations.
- Partners with Neighborhood Coordinators to foster a collaborative approach to wellness and resident care.
- Works with Sales teams to assess community capabilities and evaluate potential residents for suitability.
- Seeks guidance from a Registered Nurse as necessary, in compliance with state regulations.
Medication Oversight:
- Leads the medication management team, ensuring compliance with state laws to enhance resident safety.
- Oversees the community's medication management program, focusing on resident safety throughout the medication process.
- Provides clinical training and education to nursing staff and care managers, ensuring competency in clinical skills.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Monitors and reports clinical quality metrics to identify areas of risk.
- Actively participates in the community's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee.
- Drives clinical quality initiatives to reduce risk and enhance resident care outcomes.
- Recruits, trains, and manages clinical staff, ensuring performance management and engagement.
- Coordinates staffing and scheduling in alignment with operational and budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborates with community leadership to ensure resident safety and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Manages infection control protocols, delegating responsibilities as necessary.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state, and professional regulations.
Financial Oversight:
- Administers the department budget, understanding its impact on the overall financial health of the community.
- Submits monthly financial reports and data in accordance with internal policies.
- Understands the costs associated with resident care programs.
Leadership and Development:
- Collaborates with senior leadership in training and development initiatives.
- Onboards new nursing leaders and departmental coordinators as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of state regulations and ensures compliance through effective supervision and coaching.
- Attends regular meetings to stay informed and engaged with community operations.
- Stays updated on professional developments through continuous education and training.
- Ensures compliance with all required training and certifications.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- At least two years of RN experience, preferably in home health, assisted living, or long-term care.
- Minimum of one year in a nursing management role, including oversight of hiring and performance management.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Strong understanding of nursing practices and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of infection control practices.
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively while ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Experience in clinical performance data analysis preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and time effectively.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call responsibilities.
